Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter (Articles 39-51) describes “action with respect to threats of peace, breaches of the peace, and acts of aggression.” Compliance with UN Security Council actions under Chapter 7 is mandatory for all UN Member States.
The Limited Test Ban Treaty (LTBT) (1963) prohibited nuclear tests in the atmosphere, outer space, and under the surface of world water bodies.
