Responsibilities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Division of Concepts and Planning (SGCP) include, inter alia, strategic planning, development, and standardization of safeguards concepts, approaches, procedures, and practices.

Programme 93+2 was named for its year of origin, 1993, and its anticipated two-year program of work.

The U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency (ACDA) was established in 1961 and operated as an independent agency until integrated with the U.S. State Department under President Clinton.
