Supplemental Information

The Agreed Framework (1994) between the DPRK and the United States ended an 18-month period during which North Korea announced its intention to withdraw from the NPT. The Framework called on Pyongyang to freeze operation and construction of nuclear reactors and called upon the United States to supply North Korea with fuel oil pending construction of two new nuclear reactors.
